How to estimate the cost of welded wire fabric for SL reinforcing mesh panels

Nov . 04, 2026 01:49

The cost of welded wire fabric depends on the SL series, wire diameter, panel dimensions, mesh opening, material, and the quantity required. Our SL62, SL72, SL82, SL92, and SL102 reinforcing welded wire mesh panels cover different reinforcement requirements for roads, bridges, tunnels, buildings, floors, roofs, and walls. This guide explains how to match the panel grade to the project before requesting a quotation.

01

Match the SL series to the specified longitudinal wire, cross wire, edge wire, spacing, and sheet mass.

02

Compare mesh opening, wire diameter, panel length, panel width, material, and total quantity before comparing quotations.

03

Check the panel format against the project use, including roads, bridges, tunnel linings, buildings, floors, roofs, and walls.

04

Use the reinforcement drawing or schedule to separate requirements by project zone when different panel configurations are needed.

The cost of welded wire fabric is easiest to compare after the reinforcement requirement is fixed. Our SL62, SL72, SL82, SL92, and SL102 panels are welded reinforcing mesh made from low carbon steel rod. The series range uses different wire diameters, wire spacing, and mass, so a lower material weight is not automatically the right choice for every concrete application.

Start with the reinforcement requirement

Choose the panel by the concrete element and the reinforcement schedule first. Our reinforcing mesh is used for roads, bridges, tunnel linings, buildings, floors, roofs, and walls. It is supplied as a sheet and can be specified with panel lengths from 1 m to 12 m, widths from 0.5 m to 3 m, or customized dimensions.

For a project with a defined engineering schedule, send the required longitudinal wires, cross wires, spacing, panel size, and quantity. This gives us the information needed to prepare a useful quotation instead of comparing panel names alone.

How the SL series changes the cost

Wire diameter and mass are two of the clearest cost factors. The listed series include the following configurations:

  • SL62: 6 mm longitudinal and cross wires at 200 mm spacing, 4.77 mm edge wires at 100 mm spacing, and a listed mass of 33 kg per sheet.
  • SL72: 6.75 mm longitudinal and cross wires at 200 mm spacing, 4.77 mm edge wires at 100 mm spacing, and a listed mass of 41 kg per sheet.
  • SL82: 7.6 mm longitudinal and cross wires at 200 mm spacing, 5.37 mm edge wires at 100 mm spacing, and a listed mass of 52 kg per sheet.
  • SL92: 8.6 mm longitudinal and cross wires at 200 mm spacing, 6 mm edge wires at 100 mm spacing, and a listed mass of 66 kg per sheet.
  • SL102: 9.5 mm longitudinal and cross wires at 200 mm spacing, 6.75 mm edge wires at 100 mm spacing, and a listed mass of 80 kg per sheet.

SL62 suits buyers whose reinforcement schedule calls for the lightest listed option in this group. SL72 and SL82 fit projects that require progressively larger longitudinal and cross wires. SL92 and SL102 suit schedules that call for the larger wire diameters and greater listed sheet mass.

These descriptions are selection guidance, not a substitute for the structural design. We supply the series that matches the required schedule, so the request should identify the specified wire diameter and spacing rather than asking for the heaviest panel by default.

Compare the full panel specification

Mesh opening, wire diameter, sheet size, and material quantity should be compared together. The product range covers mesh openings from 100 mm to 400 mm, rectangular or square hole shapes, wire diameters from 3 mm to 16 mm, and low carbon steel rod as the material.

A larger opening may reduce the number of wires across a given area, while a larger wire diameter increases the steel content. The correct balance depends on the reinforcement layout and the concrete member. For this reason, a quotation request should include the opening size and wire diameter along with the total area or sheet count.

Panel dimensions also affect handling and order planning. A 1 m panel length and a 12 m panel length create different cutting, placement, and transport requirements on site. Widths from 0.5 m to 3 m allow the panel format to be matched to the project layout. If the standard dimensions do not match the drawings, we can discuss customized length and width requirements.

Picture the installation before ordering

For a floor or roof project, picture the panels arriving as sheets that must be positioned across the prepared area. Confirm the sheet length, width, opening, and wire diameter against the reinforcement drawings before ordering. The panel format should also suit the working space available for moving and placing sheets.

For roads, bridges, and tunnel linings, the order may cover several reinforcement zones with different schedules. Group the required SL series, dimensions, and quantities by zone. This prevents a single average panel specification from being applied to areas that need different wire sizes.

Welded reinforcing mesh can reduce construction time and labor compared with individually tying reinforcement, because the wires arrive welded into a mesh layout. The practical saving depends on the project design, panel dimensions, site access, and placement method. We use the schedule and dimensions you provide to identify the appropriate panel configuration.

What to send for a cost quotation

Send the reinforcement drawing or a clear schedule with:

  1. Required SL series, wire diameter, or wire spacing.
  2. Mesh opening and hole shape.
  3. Panel length, width, and any cut-size requirements.
  4. Total area, sheet quantity, or quantity by project zone.
  5. Application, such as a floor, roof, wall, road, bridge, or tunnel lining.

Our SL reinforcing welded wire mesh panels are suitable for buyers who already have a reinforcement schedule and need the panel dimensions and series matched to it. Send the drawings, quantities, and delivery destination with your inquiry so we can calculate the required panel configuration and prepare the quotation.
